California’s ninth UC campus welcomed its newest building along with the excitement of new research lab and class space.
“Science and Engineering 2 is a very modern, visually appealing and beautiful new building. It offers lots of new quiet space for us to study in and offers more office and research space,” said Aja Johnson, a fourth year Developmental Biology major.
The Science and Engineering 2 building follows UC Merced’s sustainable building methods because it holds a LEED Platinum certification. The building is also equipped with solar panels and a venue space for events.
“The building is a step forward in fulfilling UC Merced’s lofty goals! I think it looks very sleek, and serves the purpose of expanding resources for the S&E students very well,” said Eyob Tefera, a fourth year Bioengineering and Computer Science Engineering major.
Students and Faculty join to view the official opening of Science and Engineering Building II.
